Government-furnished markers, custom granite monuments, and full VA coordination — for every branch, every era, across West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
"Every veteran we honor served something larger than themselves. The least we can do is place a stone that says their name clearly — and lasts long enough that grandchildren can find it."
The VA provides free headstones and markers for eligible veterans. We coordinate the application, accept delivery, and install the marker with a properly poured concrete foundation — at no charge for the paperwork assistance.
Many families choose to supplement or replace the government marker with a custom granite monument. We design, engrave, and install these to the same standard as any family memorial — with full military branch emblems and service details.
Every branch emblem — Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard — can be sandblasted or etched into granite with precision. We maintain reference artwork for every modern and historical branch insignia.
Every veteran monument foundation we pour can include pre-set holes for flag holders. This allows a flag to be placed without drilling into the stone or disturbing the grave after installation.
When a surviving spouse passes, we return to the cemetery and engrave the final date directly on the existing monument — without removing it, without disturbing the ground. Available for monuments we installed and those placed by others.
The application process for government-furnished markers involves the National Cemetery Scheduling Office and specific documentation. We have walked families through this process many times and will guide yours at no extra cost.
Tri-State Memorial has served veteran families across the Potomac Highlands for over a century — through every conflict and every era of service.
We understand that a veteran's marker carries meaning that goes beyond a family grave. The military service, the rank, the unit, the campaign — all of it belongs on the stone. We treat that responsibility seriously.
